“Abhorrent” Memes on Campus

Memes calling for decolonization have appeared around campus in the last two weeks.

The women’s bathroom, the KCLSU notice board, and Reggie the lion make no exception. Indeed, it is difficult to walk around campus and not come across the infamous meme.

The memes mock Professor Ed Byrne, Principal of King’s College London, for addressing Israeli Apartheid week as “abhorrent“.

Israeli Apartheid Week (March 18th – April 8th) has reached its fifteenth year and will be operating under the theme ‘Stop Arming Colonialism’.

Societies such as KCL Action Palestine and the newly formed Decolonize KCL have publicly endorsed the memes on social media. When inquired on this matter, Decolonize KCL denied any affiliation with the memes.
