KING’S has fallen to 19th place in the QS world university rankings.
The College fell three places from 16th last year, but managed to cling on to its ‘one of the top 20 universities in the world’ status.
The rankings scored King’s highly on numbers of international students, which make up half of the undergrad and postgrad body, as well as on academic and employer reputation.
Principal Ed Byrne said he was delighted: “These latest rankings show that our academic reputation for cutting-edge research remains robust across the globe”.
Despite being declared ‘world-leading’ in its research earlier this year, King’s scored relatively poorly in the QS for ‘citations per faculty’ due to a change in methodology used by the ranking body.
King’s regularly performs its best in the QS league tables due to the focus on metrics such as research capability and student numbers – whereas domestic rankings emphasize areas such as student satisfaction, where King’s is 109th.
