GKTWFC get ready to take on Varsity 2025.

Staff Writer Rosie Burke interviews GKT Women’s Football General Secretary Amy Davis about their preparations going into Varsity.

GKT Women’s Football have made it their mission to involve and encourage as many women as possible to get involved in the sport. They take pride in being not only a team but a family. With Varsity soon approaching, I spoke to some of the players involved to get their opinions on the upcoming fixtures.

GKT Women’s Football, General Secretary and right full back Amy Davis had this to say:

What is your favourite thing about your team?

“Everyone is such good friends, and I love travelling to games together and chatting to everyone. We are all so supportive of each other.”

Who is the player to look out for?

“Bex Alderton or Lois Konan.”

Who is your favourite opposition to play against and why?

“KCLWFC because of the rivalry and how it’s always a highly competitive match. We always come together as a team and perform well.”

How do you feel about the varsity games coming up?

“Really excited and ready to win!”

What makes Varsity so special in comparison to other competitions?

“It’s really hyped up so everyone is so excited to play and come and watch. There’s such good vibes in the team and everyone comes together and it’s always a very competitive match.”

It’s safe to say that the women’s football match is one of the most anticipated events of the tournament. With this year being a record year with 45 different fixtures it is unmissable! Last year we narrowly missed out on bringing the Jeremy George Cup home but this has only motivated the teams involved further!

Both GKT Women and and KCLWFC are playing to bring home points for team KCL so the rivalry can be put aside to bring it home.
