Experience the highs and lows of show business at the King’s Theatre Company (KTC) Talent Show, featuring your favourite performance societies, including Dance Society, GKT Musical Theatre and more.

The Talent Show is an annual KTC tradition, coming bigger and better this year with more acts. This includes two bands from Band Soc, the Rolling Tones a cappella group, and a special performance by Hallyu, which is a King’s K-Pop dance troupe.

It is a collaborative project showcasing King’s performance societies, fostering an environment of cooperation where performers can cheer each other on.

The show is themed ‘Glitz and Glamour: The Highs and Lows of Show Business,’ and the lights, sound, and set are designed by the King’s Tech Crew society. The theme celebrates the shining stars in our performing and innovative team, with each act interpreting the aesthetic in their own ways.

Director Holly Morel mentioned, “Our theme is a nod to the side of university ‘show business’ that we all know well, and is a chance for everyone to get a little fancy – including our pyrotechnic team.”

Holly wanted to contribute to the project because she has “been lucky enough to work on a few different types of shows at Kings and see the range, professionalism and talent of the performance societies.”

In a typical show, productions are long-term projects in which a few people on the Production Team maintain creative control; in the Talent Show, smaller groups of performers and designers work collaboratively to flex their creative muscles while working with friends.

The Talent Show is a great chance to support student theatre and gain some insight into the range of activities King’s performance societies offer. If you are an arts enthusiast, coming to support a friend, or want to get a taster of the performance arts at King’s, we are happy to welcome you to the KTC Talent Show.

The inter-society event will take place from 28 to 30 January. Tickets can be purchased for all days and will include entry into the after-party.

More information about tickets and the show can be found on the KTC Instagram @kingstechcrew.
