Ahead of the UEFA European Championship (Euros), England have announced their squad, which will feature current King’s College London (KCL) student Michelle Agyemang.

The Women’s Euros starts in Switzerland next month, taking place from 2 to 27 July, featuring sixteen teams.

England are the defending champions after their landmark 2022 victory at Wembley Stadium, which paved the way for a significant growth in the popularity of women’s sports.

The Lionesses are hoping to bounce back after a devastating World Cup final defeat to Spain in 2023.

Earlier this month, England manager Sarina Wiegman announced her team selection for the tournament, after the surprise retirement of England legends Mary Earps, Fran Kirby and Mille Bright.

The 23 Lionesses selected included Michelle Agyemang, who is a current KCL student.

Agyemang studies Business Management at King’s and plays in the Women’s Super League, England’s top women’s league.

She currently plays for Arsenal as a striker but has been on loan to Brighton and Hove Albion for the 2024/25 season.

Across the season, she scored three goals and helped Brighton reach a top-five finish, which was their best since joining the WSL in 2018.

Agyemang has made one senior international appearance before this summer’s tournament, in a 3-2 defeat over Belgium in the Nations League, where she scored on her debut.

After a successful season, she is likely to feature more heavily in the Euros campaign.

Life at King’s and King’s Business School shared a post on Instagram applauding Agyemang on her achievement.

The Lionesses are in Group D, with France, the Netherlands and Wales, their first match will be against France on 5 July.

All England matches will be available to watch in the UK across the BBC and ITV channels.
