Staff Writer Samira Gulled explains the significance of New Scientist Live and why King’s students should attend.
New Scientist Live (NSLive) is an event bringing together the latest research, communicators, technology and innovation all in one place.
For the past two years, Roar has attended NSLive and covered talks such as Antikythera Mechanism and exploring exhibits ranging from 3D printed prosthetics to robot eye surgery.
We would recommend attending to any STEM student looking to meet and learn from professionals in their field.
Across four different stages: Universe, Mind & Body, Future and Family, there are experts in the field who discuss everything from the multiverse and future of space travel to talks on AI and how it will change the world.
This year’s line-up includes over 50 speakers, ranging from geneticists and anthropologists to physicists and science communicators. Whether you’re interested in the biggest cosmic mysteries, the latest technology or human evolution, NSLive has something for everyone, from talks on obesity to cosmic mysteries.
The exhibition offers plenty of opportunities to get involved with interactive activities like experiencing a realistic 3D roller-coaster ride, meeting humanoid robots and exploring the work of organisations, universities and research group.
The exhibition joins several events in London being hosted this autumn, from a lecture on the ancient cosmos at the royal institution to the London biotechnology show at Excel London.
New Scientist Live will take place at ExCeL London on 10–12th October, and students at King’s can get 20% off tickets for New Scientist Live this year with code: NSLSTUDENT26.
