KCL Announces New Politics and International Affairs Undergrad Course

King’s College London (KCL) has announced it will launch a new Politics and International Affairs BA, offering students a globally-focused curriculum with study abroad opportunities and expertise spanning Europe, East Asia and the Middle East.

Applications for the new Politics and International Affairs BA will open in September 2025 for entry in September 2026.

The three year course, based on Strand Campus, is set to “offer a unique approach to understanding politics, by blending domestic and international perspectives“. As such, students will have the benefit of a breadth of expertise in regions including Europe, East Asia and the Middle East. In the same vein, it also will encompass a wide range of topics, ranging from elections to finance and trade.

Politics and International Affairs students will have the opportunity to study abroad. They will have the opportunity to spend a semester in one of several potential destinations across Asia, Europe and the United States.

The Department of European and International Studies (EIS) will host the degree. The new course will add to its existing European Politics and European Studies undergraduate courses. The department is one of the School of Politics & Economics’ three departments.

Professor Ramon Pacheco Pardo, head of the Department of European and International Studies, said:

“At a time of global political turmoil due to wars in Europe or the Middle East, a changing US foreign policy and a trade war and political competition between Beijing and Washington, this degree is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to navigate this complex scenario.

“This degree responds to growing student demand to learn about and discuss how global dynamics such as war, economic nationalism or challenges to democracy are linked to each other, affecting domestic politics across the world as well as relations among countries and international institutions.”
