Student media at King’s comes in top three nationwide at NUS Awards

KCLSU Student Media is one of the top three student media outlets in the country, after a successful night at the NUS Awards 2014 in Bolton yesterday evening.

Roar!, KingsTV, KCL Radio and Photosoc came runners-up in the Student Media of the Year category at the five hour awards ceremony.

Matt Capon, student media coordinator for KCLSU, told Roar!: “To be nominated is a fantastic achievement in itself, but to finish as runner-up in the category is a massive statement about how far KCLSU Student Media has come in such a relatively short space of time.

“Last night’s success for KCLSU very much belongs to every volunteer who’s been a part of student media over the last two years.”

He added: “The future for KCLSU Student Media going into the new academic year is very bright.”

The accolade comes after a successful year for all the main media groups; with Roar! scooping Best Website at the SPA Awards in April.

KingsTV won Highly Commended in two categories at the National Student Television Association Awards, and KCL Radio won bronze for Best Interview at the Student Radio Association awards.

The event was part of the #SU14 conference for student officers and their staff.
