The results are in. On 30th October, Times Higher Education released their annual piece: ‘Best universities for graduate jobs: Global Employability University Rankings 2026.’
Universities who have produced the most employable graduates have been ranked based on how they prepare students for jobs after they graduate.
This year, King’s College London (KCL) has been ranked 65th in the Global Employability University Rankings for 2026, decreasing from 64th place in 2025.
However, it ranked 6th in the UK Employability rankings, beating UCL in 7th place.
KCL’s highest ranking in the Global Employability rankings was 21st in 2020.
The process is as follows:
- Corresponding to metrics designed by the HR consultancy Emerging, a survey is conducted by employers on graduate employees.
- A voting process then takes place, selecting a ‘minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 institutions from a curated list of about 1,000.’
- The 1,000 are put against ‘7 Employability Drivers.’ Such as: Social Impact & Leadership and Academic Performance.
- From this, 250 ‘higher education institutions’ are chosen and their place in the table is established.
In comparison to our competitors, UCL ranked 98th, LSE came in at 19th and Imperial College London came out on top in 9th place.
Cambridge and Oxford dominated the top of the table with Cambridge ranking 4th place and Oxford ranking 5th. Imperial College ranked 3rd overall in the UK.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US has remained in 1st place since 2025.
Despite our rankings, King’s Careers and Employability gives graduates the opportunity to network with their various alumni in London through mentoring schemes and events.
They help prepare students for future jobs by a ‘identifying valuable career path’ and providing ‘interactive online resources.’ KEATS, King’s CareerConnect and online careers resources remain accessible 24/7, while in-person appointments and events also feature.
Other resources include King’s Employer Engagement who source opportunities from around the world.
King’s Careers & Employability brought together ninety employers to Bush House, Strand ‘to enable reflection and discussion on key trends across the graduate labour market and early careers talent.’
According to an article published on the King’s website on the 27th March 2024, KCL ‘ranked 14th out of over 140 universities in the UK.’ In 2020-21, ‘over 90% of King’s graduates are in highly skilled employment.’
Imperial College London ranked 3rd in the UK as it ‘hosts many careers events throughout the year’ and ‘allows students to come back for careers support up to three years after they graduate’, states the Times Higher Education article.
