Roar wins Mind Media Award and shortlisted for another at successful awards night

THE Roar News editorial team bagged Best Student Journalist 2014 at the Mind Media Awards this evening.

The team picked up the Anna Sargent Student Journalist award for ‘The Big Mental Health Issue’, an entire edition devoted to dialogue and challenging stigma.

This followed a highly successful awards season, in which Roar was also shortlisted for Mind’s Best Publication alongside the Guardian and Cosmo.

Dulcie Lee, editor of Roar News, said in the acceptance speech: “This shows that tabloids can report on mental health sensitively, and I hope to see a lot more of that in the future.”

Earlier this year Roar won Student Media of the Year at the Ents forum, and was shortlisted for the same gong at the NUS awards.

The tabloid also picked up Best Website 2014 at the SPA Awards and was given a special mention for Best Publication 2014.
