LONDON VARSITY 2021- American Football Review

UCL takes the wins and the varsity points to edge two points up in the series.

In a game where offence was on top UCL came out victorious. Despite the valiant efforts of the King’s quarterbacks, who emulated a young Tom Brady at times with how they scanned the field putting the football where only their receivers could snag it, the Regents came away with their heads held high even in defeat.

UCL, who had requested the game be non-contact as they can’t handle the smoke, turned up with only a few players meaning a full 11 vs 11 spectacle was not unable to unfold under the lights of the Greenwich University Avery Hill campus. Despite this more than a few highlight touchdowns were produced as King’s raced out to an early lead only to be pegged back by half time despite the best efforts of a strong defence effort. In the second half the greater experience of a more seasoned UCL team showed as they established a commanding lead. With true King’s spirit regents kept going though, producing more touchdowns and a few takeaway scores.

Though in the end it was not enough. Our boys in red, white, and gold will be looking to run it back in a years time when hopefully UCL can suck it up and play full contact.
