2020 London Varsity Series: SWIMMING

The picturesque Crystal Palace National Sports Centre’s pool provided the scene for an excellent sunset on the first day of Varsity 2020 – as well as an altogether disappointing showing in swimming and a point for the Gower Street boys and girls.

Some early standout performances in the intermediates and marathon 200m breast stroke races gave the Strand faithful some hope before the mixed and butterfly races turned the afternoon on its head. UCL’s powerful breast stroke racers cemented commanding leads and a horde of 1-2 finishes for the points total.

Ultimately, despite some good relay showings in the latter stages, KCL fell at an early hurdle 101-105
